The Bosnia and Herzegovina international boasts [considerable experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/asmir-begovic/profil/spieler/33873) in the Premier League with the likes of Stoke, Chelsea and Bournemouth themselves.

The 34-year-old has just [one year remaining](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/asmir-begovic/profil/spieler/33873) on his current deal on the south coast, though the report issues a further boost to Everton by declaring that the Cherries are considering releasing Begovic.

The Toffees are in need of a new deputy goalkeeper following the departure of former loanee Robin Olsen.

There has been no recent indication that Everton intend to convert the Sweden international’s loan deal into a permanent one, despite occasionally forcing his way into starting line-ups under Carlo Ancelotti.

A seperate update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed talks are ongoing over a two-year deal, with Rafa Benitez set to make a final decision on the goalkeeping department soon.

### Read Everton Verdict

A cost-effective deal for an experienced Premier League goalkeeper is not to be snubbed, considering the void that requires filling in Everton’s goalkeeping department.

Off the back of an upturn in form for Everton and an[outstanding Euro 2020 tournament](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jordan-pickford-everton-euro-2020-21032596)with England, Jordan Pickford’s no. 1 spot would not be seriously threatened save for a dramatic cliff-edge fall in form.

In that view, a potential free transfer for Begovic would represent a shrewd deal for a player that would be far from the cornerstone of Rafa Benitez’ plans – yet his overall role in relation to the wider squad is an important one.
