# Virals: Everton named as ‘interested’ club in Nicolas Pepe pursuit

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/11/12/virals-everton-most-interested-in-juventus-midfielder-aaron-ramsey/) have been named amongst the interested parties in signing Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe.

Despite arriving for [big money](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/11773463/nicolas-pepe-completes-move-to-arsenal-from-lille-for-club-record-72m) in 2019 the 26-year-old has struggled to reach the height many might’ve expected in the Premier League.

Now the Gunners are believed to be [open to the idea of a January departure](https://talksport.com/football/981789/arsenal-nicolas-pepe-wilfried-zaha-crystal-palace-lille-mikel-arteta/) for the Ivory Coast international.

That’s according to a report from [Jeunex Footeux](https://www.jeunesfooteux.com/Arsenal-Nicolas-Pepe-sur-le-depart-Plusieurs-formations-de-Premier-League-interessees_a50143.html), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness) on Twitter.

The report claims that Arsenal ‘might not have any other choice’ than to accept loan to buy offers for the [25-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-pepe/nationalmannschaft/spieler/343052/verein_id/3591) ace.

Pepe has failed to live up to expectations at the Emirates Stadium and has only registered [one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-pepe/leistungsdaten/spieler/343052) in seven Premier League outings this season.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

Just when it seemed the days of [signing outcasts](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/alletransfers/verein/29) from fellow Premier League clubs were behind the Toffees.

Whilst Pepe clearly possesses plenty of ability, having [struggled badly](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-pepe/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/343052) in North London surely Rafa Benitez wouldn’t set about rekindling a career in Merseyside.

Still valued at £31.5million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-pepe/marktwertverlauf/spieler/343052)), the option to buy would likely remain a costly one as Arsenal look to recoup some of their [£72million club record outlay](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49197553) and one Everton should avoid.
