# Virals: Everton ‘send enquiry’ to Tottenham regarding Harry Winks

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/10/07/virals-everton-can-sign-fc-porto-winger-luis-diaz-for-42-5m/) have reportedly ‘sent an enquiry’ to Tottenham regarding the availability of midfielder [Harry Winks](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/05/darren-bent-tips-harry-winks-for-everton-move/).

The Toffees would appear to be hoping to strengthen the department in January as [speculation](https://metro.co.uk/2021/10/06/man-utd-solskjaer-urged-sell-donny-van-de-beek-everton-transfer-news-15378055/) continues to link the club with a move for Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek.

However, the Dutchman may not be the only option as [former England favourite](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/international/harry-winks-england-vs-kosovo-gareth-southgate-tottenham-hotspur-news-a9205376.html) Winks is now believed to be on the radar at Goodison Park.

That’s according to a report from [CaughtOffside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/10/07/exclusive-everton-enquire-about-harry-winks-as-toffees-seek-donny-van-de-beek-alternative/), as cited by [Everton Talks Nsno](https://twitter.com/NsnoTalks) on Twitter claiming that the Blues have already made contact over the 25-year-old.

Further reports from [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/harry-winks-eyes-loan-move-away-from-tottenham-in-january-transfer-window-jfpp6vtxp) would suggest that Everton have a strong chance of landing the [10 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-winks/nationalmannschaft/spieler/249126/verein_id/3299) forgotten man.

This season Winks has once again struggled to hold down a first-team spot and has only made [five fleeting appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-winks/leistungsdaten/spieler/249126) across all competitions – including just 60 minutes of Premier League action.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

It wasn’t so long ago that the cultured midfield ace was a [regular](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-winks/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249126) for both club and country.

Still only 25, it would [appear](https://www.premierleague.com/players/7488/Harry-Winks/stats) Winks is in need of a minor resurrection.

Having already [rekindled Andros Townsend’s career](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3724/Andros-Townsend/stats), Everton will be hoping an initial short-term loan switch can kickstart the Englishman and in turn boost the Blues’ own European hopes.

Capable of operating either as a deep-lying midfielder or in a more advanced role, Winks would be the ideal mid-season addition to Rafa Benitez’s [squad](https://www.evertonfc.com/teams/first-team).

Valued at £18million and under contract until 2024 in London ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-winks/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249126#:~:text=all%20players%20worldwide-,With%20a%20market%20value%20of%20%C2%A318.00m%2C%20Harry%20Winks,worldwide%20playing%20as%20%22midfield%22.)), an immediate permanent switch would represent too much of a risk.
