# Virals: Report cites ‘recent’ contact from Everton for Roger Schmidt

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/11/04/virals-report-highlights-january-transfer-targets-at-everton/) have reportedly made ‘recent’ contact with PSV Eindhoven manager Roger Schmidt.

The Blues ended their managerial hunt in the summer by [appointing Rafa Benitez](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57660542) to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

However, three consecutive defeats and a run of [four matches without victory](https://www.evertonfc.com/results) has piled the pressure on the Spaniard.

According to a report from reputable German outlet [BILD](https://sportbild.bild.de/fussball/international/fussball-international/hoffnung-fuer-bundesliga-klubs-trainer-roger-schmidt-vor-abflug-bei-psv-eindhove-78130816.sport.html), Everton and Tottenham have reached out to the 54-year-old.

The report discusses the options available to Schmidt as the German’s contract heads steadfastly towards its [expiry](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roger-schmidt/profil/trainer/3865) at the end of the current campaign.

German Bundesliga trio RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin are also believed to be keen on the [experienced](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roger-schmidt/stationen/trainer/3865) manager’s services.

Described by PSV centre-back André Ramalho as instilling an [‘aggressive and attacking’](https://www.ruetir.com/2021/08/02/ramalho-praises-schmidt-he-stands-for-aggressive-and-attacking-football/) brand of football, Schmidt’s side currently sits second in the Dutch top-flight.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

Whilst Benitez isn’t quite on borrowed time just yet, there is certainly [mounting pressure](https://www.teamtalk.com/everton/biggest-three-benitez-issues-cited-pressure-mounts-boring-toffees) and sounding out managers elsewhere is never a comfortable look for the man in situ.

Although there aren’t any specifics as to when exactly the contact was initiated, Schmidt’s [continued availability](https://livefootballontv.net/psv-will-talk-to-roger-schmidt-about-a-new-contract-in-the-short-term/) will likely be of interest to the Goodison Park hierarchy.

Albeit [decimated by injuries](https://www.evertonfc.com/teams/injuries-and-suspensions) in recent weeks, Benitez has little to no credit in the bak on the Blue half of Merseyside and it’s unlikely to take too much for supporters to turn.
