# Walcott forced off through early injury – shame for the winger

Walcott has been substituted off for Everton inside the first five minutes due to injury.

The former England international was named in the starting line-up for the first time this season against Manchester City, but his cameo lasted around two minutes.

Raheem Sterling’s cross attempt hit Walcott flush in the face, resulting in the winger dropping to the ground immediately.

After lengthy treatment on the pitch, the 30-year old was stretchered off for Alex Iwobi to make his introduction.

### Read Everton Verdict

Although I didn’t want Walcott to play, it is never good to see someone forced off through injury in that manner.

It’s a shame for Everton who have effectively wasted a substitution early in the game, but an even bigger shame for Walcott who would likely have been relishing his chance to make an impression.

Hopefully he recovers quickly.
