West Brom 1-2 Everton: Player Ratings

Everton managed to steal all three points from the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, with a rare goal from Gareth Barry securing the win.

West Brom took an early lead through Gareth McAuley as he headed in from a corner.

After a lacklustre first 30 minutes, James McCarthy was replaced by Romelu Lukaku in what looked to be a tactical change. McCarthy was visibly disappointed by the decision but it allowed more time on the ball for other players with Lukaku becoming the focal point of the squad.

Gerard Deulofeu was originally deployed as the lone striker but West Brom dealt with the pressure well.

After Lukaku’s introduction, the Toffees equalised through Kevin Mirallas before Gareth Barry put the Blues in front with a header at the back post after Holgate’s effort on goal.

Everton now face Yeovil in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night before Stoke City come to Goodison next weekend.
