According to TalkSport, Everton are interested in Sporting Gijon defender Bernardo Espinosa.
The 26-year-old central defender currently plays in La Liga with Sporting and has been impressing so far this season, but his contract expires next summer and he is expected to reject any talk of a new deal at the Spanish side.
This has led to interest from a couple of Premier League sides as both Everton and Watford have been touted with January enquires for the Columbian defender.
Everton are looking into defensive reinforcements after the injury to Phil Jagielka and the less than convincing form of Ramiro Funes Mori at the back. It has gotten so bad for Everton that every time John Stones even looks remotely injured, fans start to worry.
With Espinosa’s contract expiring next summer; Gijon are going to want to cash in on him during the January window and it could be the perfect time for Everton to pick him up for a cut-price fee.
