Everton are ‘likely’ to land Sam Byram and Shani Tarashaj in the coming weeks, as the Blues look to strengthen their squad with the impending transfer of Steven Naismith.
Byram has impressed for Leeds United this season with his ability to play full-back and in midfield and the Express reports that the 22-year-old now has a number of Premier League clubs chasing his signature, including high-flying West Ham and Premier League new boys Watford.
Although both are in good form, it is thought that Everton’s track record of giving youth a chance could appeal to Byram, thus giving the Blues a head start over other potential suitors.
With the youngster’s current contract set to run out at the end of the season, Leeds must cash in now if they are to have any hope of getting the kind of fee they think he is worth. As the Englishman is under the age of 24 however, Leeds will be entitled a compensation fee should the defender move on in the summer but that is thought to be around £2m.
It is also thought that Everton are close to signing Shani Tarashaj from Grasshopper Club Zürich, but any deal for the forward is likely to include a clause which would see the 20-year-old loaned back to the club for the remainder of this season.

The Guardian reported on Wednesday that the 20-year-old’s representatives have been in Liverpool over the last week to discuss terms, and it looks like an agreement has been made. The Express have reiterated this so it looks likely that a deal is not far off.
