Everton are one of many clubs considering making a move for Leeds United right-back Sam Byram, according to The Yorkshire Post.
The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Everton had scouts watching him in last night’s defeat to Ipswich Town.
His manager, Steve Evans, recently admitted to Sky Sports that four Premier League sides have contacted him about possibly taking Byram.
He said:
Four Premier League managers have asked me about him, mostly about his character and what he’s like off the pitch.
I couldn’t have given them more glowing references than I already have. He really is such a fantastic young professional.
He’s first in the building and he’s the last out.
On days off, he comes in and he makes sure his recovery is right. He’s always with the staff stretching and being prepared for training and when he trains, he trains with real intensity and real quality so I’m not surprised that people want to take him.
With Leeds’ well-publicised financial difficulties, they could choose to sell Byram this month and bring in a guaranteed transfer fee.

Despite playing at right-back for most of his career, Byram has impressed in a more advanced role this season, and with Seamus Coleman currently out with a calf injury, Byram’s attacking ability could provide Roberto Martinez with an option that keeps the balance of Everton’s side despite the loss of the Irishman.
According to the report in the Yorkshire Post, Leeds offered Byram an extension last month, but they only offered to prolong his current deal and did not offer to increase his £12,000-a-week wages. Everton could easily afford to offer the 22-year-old a better salary if they do choose to make a move for him.
