The Blues have today been linked with Espanyol striker Felipe Caicedo, that is according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Ecuadorian forward has scored eight goals in 23 appearances for the Blanquiazules, which has driven Everton’s interest forward and are now willing to meet the 27-year-olds reported £7.3m release clause.
The forward has previous experience in the Premier League, the Ecuadorian was on Manchester City’s books as a youngster but could not make an impact on the first team. Caicedo has now become a big figure for the Spanish side, who are reluctant to let the striker go but may have to admit defeat with the financial power of the Premier League.
Caicedo recently rejected a big money move to China, but with the Blues interested it is still possible for the forward to move on from La Liga, with Newcastle United also linked with a move for the striker. The report does explain that Felipe is happy in the Spanish league, but the financial power of Everton compared to Espanyol could be ‘too tempting’.
The Ecuadorian would become Everton’s third signing of the season after Shani Tarashaj and Matty Foulds and with the Blues receiving £8.5m for Steven Naismith last week, it could be likely that the Toffees are in the market for a replacement in attack.
