Everton have triggered the release clause of Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to the Daily Mail.
The Blues are said to be on the lookout for a midfielder, with Axel Witsel, William Carvalho and Morgan Schneiderlin all linked with a move to Goodison Park this summer.
Gueye joined Villa last summer for £9million and was part of the team that hugely underperformed and was eventually relegated to the second tier of the English football pyramid.

With Ronald Koeman looking to strengthen his squad, the Dutchman has turned his sights to the Senegalese international but it is unsure at this point whether Gueye would be used in the first team or as a back-up option to the likes of Gareth Barry and James McCarthy.
Whether the midfielder is an alternative to the likes of Axel Witsel and William Carvalho is yet to be seen, though, there are no doubts that such a move would be underwhelming for fans should he make the switch to Merseyside.
