The Toffees are said to be keen on signing the 25-year-old with defender John Stones set to join Manchester City in a £50million deal. Farhad Moshiri is hoping to make a statement of intent in this transfer window, and sealing a deal for Koulibaly by outbidding the Chelsea would certainly show intent.

Everton are currently short on central defenders, with captain Phil Jagielka injured while Ramiro Funes Mori attracts attention from Roma and John Stones looks set to leave the club. With this, It will be one of the club’s top priorities to bring in a defender before the season starts in nearly two weeks time.
Everton have already signed Maarten Stekelenburg and are close to finalising a deal with Aston Villa’s Idrissa Gueye. The club have also been linked with moves for Axel Witsel, William Carvalho and Juan Mata this summer, with Ronald Koeman looking to overhaul the current squad.
