Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye has signed for Everton on a four-year deal, the club has confirmed.
The Senegalese international had a release clause thought to be in the region of £7million, with the club acting fast to trigger the clause and get a deal completed ahead of other Premier League club’s.
It is thought that Steve Walsh was a fan of the player while at Leicester, who even considered signing the player before N’Golo Kante joined the club.

When looking at Idrissa’s stats last season, the Senegalese international came second – behind N’Golo Kante – in terms tackles made, tackles won, interceptions, duels won and even came first in the Premier League in terms of recoveries.
Ronald Koeman will now look to push on with other deals, with Axel Witsel and Kalidou Koulibaly thought to be subject to serious interest from the Toffees. It is reported that Everton have agreed a fee for Witsel, but the midfielder is yet to commit to a deal.
The club are also said to have submitted an offer for Koulibaly in the region of €45million to prise him from Napoli as they look to replace Manchester City bound John Stones.
