Everton reportedly keen to sign Matheus Jesus

Everton are one of several clubs said to be keeping an eye on Estoril midfielder Matheus Jesus.

According to an exclusive report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the Toffees have joined Italian sides in the hunt to land the Brazilian, who has been impressing of late.

The 20-year-old, who is a defensive midfielder by trade, is currently back in his homeland on loan at Santos. However, he is being courted by clubs in Europe, who have liked what they’ve seen so far of Jesus.

Fiorentina are claimed to be the team who have shown the strongest interest in the midfielder, with a bid worth €3.5m having been turned down, if reports are to be believed.

Two more Serie A outfits have since joined the race for Jesus, with Sampdoria and Bologna both joining Everton in their interest.

Jesus is a full international for the Brazil Under-20 side, and is a promising player.
