Somewhat unsurprisingly, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has distanced himself from the Everton job.
The Argentine tactician was claimed to have been Farhad Moshiri’s first choice to replace Ronald Koeman at the helm of the club but Simeone has rejected these claims.
Since Koeman’s departure, David Unsworth has been in caretaker charge of the club. The Toffees had hoped to appoint a manager before the end of the international break but Unsworth remains in charge ahead of the game against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Simeone, among many others, was linked with taking the reins at Goodison Park. However, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 47-year-old reiterated his commitment to Atletico Madrid.
I have read about it. I have said it many times. My future is linked to this club. They will have to put up with me for at least two more years.
Simeone’s side are currently sat in an underwhelming position of 4th in La Liga but despite this, the manager is highly coveted and regarded as one of the top bosses in Europe.
Everton will now have to take their search elsewhere, with Watford boss Marco Silva seemingly near the top of their managerial shortlist.
