Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth has insisted that his side are not yet in a relegation battle, the Daily Mail reports.
I wouldn’t go that far so early. I think we are in a tough moment, I think we have a massive week ahead of us. If you ask me that question next week I can give you a more honest view.
The Toffees succumbed to yet another embarrassing defeat on Sunday. They were crushed 4-1 against Southampton away from home, further cementing their lowly position on the Premier League table.
If the players didn’t know they were in a tough situation they must do now. It is a massive week for the club.

A stunning strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson could not paper over what was a simply terrible display from Everton. A brace from Charlie Austin flanked by goals from Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis helped the hosts to a victory.
Unsworth has picked up where Ronald Koeman left off at Goodison Park and has overseen his Everton side perform underwhelmingly.
The Toffees are currently sat in 16th place on the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone. They take on West Ham in midweek, who currently sit in 18th.
Everton are yet to make a decision on their next permanent manager, as uncertainty clouds Unsworth’s future at the club.
