Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has emerged as a surprise candidate for the manager’s role at Premier League side Everton as the Toffees desperately look for a new boss, according to a report on the Mirror.
The Merseyside club are struggling in the league and were beaten convincingly by Southampton on the weekend.
Everton were keen to appoint Watford boss Marco Silva but have failed to secure his services so far.
47-year-old Vitoria is said to be interested in making the move to England and wants to challenge himself in the Premier League.

The manager has won two Portuguese league titles in his two years at the club, as well as the Portugal cup and league cup.
With the Super Cup Candido Oliveira also won twice, it takes his trophy tally to an impressive six in two years.
The manager knows what it takes to win and is also very efficient in the transfer market, with the club generating around £270m in player sales since he took over.
Everton are currently 16th and despite caretaker manager David Unsworth saying that the club are not in a relegation battle, the table says otherwise.
The Toffees sit only two points above the relegation zone and could find themselves in a severe relegation scrap is their results don’t start improving.
