Everton have been linked with a hugely unlikely move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in recent times.
The Toffees are said to be pondering a January swoop for the Gabon international, whose future at the Bundesliga club remains heavily scrutinised.
It’s unlikely that Aubameyang would want to take a step down to join Everton, but it appears as though Sam Allardyce is considering a move for the ex-Saint-Etienne attacker.
Allardyce was asked whether or not Aubameyang would fit the bill for the club, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
Possibly. It is the hardest thing to recruit today, a centre-forward who scores goals and is the right type of centre-forward who scores goals for you. That’s the most expensive area on the pitch today.
We’ve a number of players here who have reasonably good goalscoring records who haven’t settled in – Niasse when he came from Russia, but has scored a few this year, and Sandro who hasn’t quite settled yet but scored lots of goals at Malaga last year.

Aubameyang has been disciplined once already by Dortmund this season for displaying poor conduct but remains a hugely important player for Peter Bosz’ side.
Everton are in desperate need of more attacking quality in January, particularly up front given that they failed to sufficiently replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
There are people who have scored goals here but if there’s one out there that’s ready and ready-made it would be 1) expensive and 2) you have to ask is it the right one?
It’s my opinion that my first signing has to be correct, has to be the right signing for Everton and for my future, because if you make bad signings you get the sack. If you make good signings you become a better manager.
Aubameyang is unlikely to join Everton, but it’s interesting to see Allardyce fail to rule out the possibility of a bid at the very least.
