Everton were linked with a move for Bayern Munich left-back Juan Bernat earlier today, but it seems a deal may be hard to secure this month.
The Spaniard is not getting the regular game-time he is keen on at Bayern and this has led to speculation surrounding his future. Everton have been chasing wide defensive options for some time now and it seems Bernat is the latest target.
However, according to a report from the Daily Mail, the Toffees may have already hit a stumbling block in their pursuit to sign the left-back, who is also capable of playing as a left-sided midfielder.

Bayern are said to be keen on keeping hold of Bernat beyond the January transfer window as they aim to provide cover for starting full-back David Alaba.
Bernat has made only two appearances in the Bundesliga this season but Bayern remain keen to retain his services until the end of the season, with Everton’s enquiry seemingly having been turned down.
