Mason Holgate has pulled out of the England U21 setup, with the defender set to undergo ankle surgery.
The defender had been called up by Aidy Boothroyd for the games against Romania and Ukraine. However, with Holgate suffering from an ankle injury, Everton have decided to recall Holgate for surgery on the injury.
Holgate pulled out alongside Spurs midfielder Harry Winks, who is also suffering with ankle issues.

The defender has made 21 appearances for Everton so far this season, but has struggled to hold down a starting place in Sam Allardyce’s team.
Everton are yet to put a time frame on the recovery of the defender.
Holgate was one of a number of Everton players picked for international duty this week, and is the second player to be recalled. Idrissa Gueye was recalled from Senegal duty after picking up an injury in training.
Gueye is set to miss cruical games against Manchester City and the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.
