Everton could revive interest in Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt, despite the departure of Sam Allardyce.
It’s no secret that Everton are in need of defensive reinforcements this summer, in particular on the left side which is particularly light on depth.
Van Aanholt was brought to Palace 18 months ago by Allardyce, who had coached the Dutch full-back while at Sunderland before his ill-fated stint as England boss.
This inevitably saw rumour link the club with a move for the 27-year old, to once again reunite the player and manager.
Despite now having sacked Allardyce and having appointed Marco Silva as the club’s next permanent boss, Van Aanholt is believed to still be on Everton’s list of potential targets, according to MailOnline.

Director of Football Marcel Brands is an admirer of the former Chelsea academy graduate, and believes he has a lot of positive attributes that would suit him to the Toffees.
Other targets include Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, although both are unlikely to join Everton. The former is likely to attract attention from bigger clubs, while the latter looks likely to remain at Old Trafford.
Frank Fabra also looked likely to be Everton’s first signing of the summer last month, but talk on that deal has gone cold for the time being.
With Leighton Baines on the wrong side of 30 and with Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway struggling to impress, a left-back will certainly be brought in. It remains to be seen who Brands and Silva can get as they look to build a new project with the Blues.
