Everton midfielder leaves club with another soon to depart

Everton midfielder Conor Grant has today signed for League One side Plymouth Argyle, with Joel Robles also soon to depart Goodison Park.

The 23-year old midfielder never made a senior appearance for Everton, coming closest to doing so when he was named on the bench for the club’s Europa League dead rubber against FC Krasnodar in 2014.

Since 2015, Grant has spent time on loan with Motherwell, Doncaster Rovers (Twice), Ipswich Town and Crewe, while he also featured frequently for Everton’s Under-23’s last season.

Having signed a one-year extension last summer, Grant leaves as a free agent having not been offered a new contract with the Toffees.

Meanwhile, Joel Robles looks likely to sign for his hometown club Getafe CF, with his contract also set to expire this summer.

The Spanish goalkeeper is believed to have been offered a new deal by Everton, but the 27-year old is fed up of playing second fiddle and is leaving in search of regular football.

Having been brought in as second choice by Roberto Martínez, Joel displaced Tim Howard as first choice, before being relegated back to second choice when Ronald Koeman signed Maarten Stekelenburg.

Having then displaced Stekelenburg, Joel was once again moved to the bench when current No.1 Jordan Pickford joined the club.

Joel made a total of 65 appearances for the Toffees, 42 of which were in the Premier League.
