Everton have huge bid for French midfielder declined
Everton have reportedly had a big-money offer for Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure rejected.
According to claims from French news outlet RMC Sport, the Toffees made a bid worth €25 million along with €5m in additional bonuses for the powerful midfielder, but have seen their efforts rebuffed.
Docuoure enjoyed a hugely impressive season at Vicarage Road and was one of the Hornets’ standout performers.
He was a mainstay under Marco Silva before he was dismissed at the club and according to recent reports, the new Everton boss would love to reunite with Doucoure on Merseyside.
The 25-year-old is well-loved by Watford fans and following such a promising breakthrough season in the Premier League, it seems Everton were willing to break the bank to land him this summer.
However, it’s believed by RMC Sport that Doucoure remains keen to prove himself in the top-flight of English football on a consistent basis, with the player open to staying put with Watford in the short-term.
