Everton have seemingly missed out on midfield target William Carvalho, who has agreed a deal with La Liga outfit Real Betis.
While a deal hasn’t yet been sealed, with Betis still waiting on Sporting, personal terms have been agreed and the Portuguese enforcer has been convinced of a move to Seville.
Despite the contract situation at Sporting, where up to nine players reportedly cancelled their contracts following an assault on the players by fans last season, Carvalho is expected to cost Betis around €25million.

While it appears Everton have missed out on yet another target this summer, the likelihood is that the Toffees were merely used by Carvalho’s agent to spike interest, with no concrete sources ever confirming the club’s interest as being anything but tentative.
Everton certainly have further midfield targets, with reports linking Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucouré and Milan’s Andrea Bertolacci to the club this Thursday.
With the transfer window closing on August 9, Everton will need to firm up interest in certain targets and press harder as soon as possible, otherwise they’ll find themselves in a precarious position come the season’s opener against Wolves mid-August.
