Former Everton midfielder Kevin Mirallas has broken his silence regarding his departure from Goodison Park over the summer transfer window.
The Belgian international joined Italian Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal and is finding it difficult to break into their starting lineup as there is plenty of competition for places on the wings.

The Italian club has the option to buy Mirallas for around £6.2m if he impresses during his spell there this season.
Mirallas was used during pre-season by Marco Silva but ultimately, the manager didn’t have him in his plans.
As reported on the Liverpool Echo, the winger was open to staying with the Toffees, but he claims that he was forced out of the club.
When asked if he was forced to leave Everton, Mirallas said:
Yes, it’s true. I considered my journey in Liverpool to be over. I looked for a new challenge. Tottenham also courted me. The charm of the Premier League, the possibility to play Champions League football, new emotions. Instead, nothing. I was saddened.
I couldn’t play football without feeling happy, and for a long time, the real Mirallas hadn’t been seen on the pitch.
Fiorentina arrived at the right moment and in order not to put the deal in jeopardy, I accepted a reduced salary. I gave up on a lot of money but I’m happy. In Serie A I will rediscover my love of playing football. The great times will come back again.
Do you know what hit me about this squad? Their character and commitment during training. They work with great intensity. It’s great to be like this.
Mirallas fell heavily out of favour in Merseyside and spent some time on loan at Greek side Olympiacos last season.
