Lucas Digne’s start to life at Everton has been praised by France teammate Blaise Matuidi.
Digne joined the Toffees from Barcelona in the summer and has immediately shone in the Premier League, making four appearances to date.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Matuidi says he is most impressed with the defensive side of the 25-year-old’s game – an area he feels must be strong to succeed in England:

Lucas played at PSG, Roma, Barca, the big clubs where he progressed offensively.
And here he plays in a championship (the Premier League) that forces him to be stronger defensively.
I don’t see all his matches but I have seen him, and I find him effective.
Above all, in the selection (national squad) he never disappointed.

Digne was not part of France’s World Cup-winning squad alongside Matuidi, but his form has seen him recalled to the Les Bleus fold.
The defender played all 90 minutes of his country’s 2-0 loss to the Netherlands on Friday.
Attention soon turns to domestic action, with Everton hosting Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon, but before that, France host Uruguay in a friendly on Tuesday.
Digne will again be hungry to play a prominent role.
