Everton may need to land a new central defender this summer, with Kurt Zouma’s loan set to expire at the end of the season. Diego Llorente is being touted with a move to Goodison Park, but would he be an upgrade on the Chelsea centre-back?
The Spaniard is being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but the Toffees are believed to also be in the race.
Llorente enjoyed an impressive campaign at Sociedad and appears to be hot property ahead of next season. The La Liga outfit will undoubtedly be keen to retain his services, but interest from the Premier League is gathering.
Everton are likely to be intent on tying up a permanent deal for Zouma, but with Chelsea facing a possible transfer ban, they may be determined to keep hold of their more experienced loan stars.

This could lead the Toffees to seek a replacement by dipping into the transfer market, with Llorente among the possible contenders to fill the void that is set to be left by the Frenchman.
The Sociedad man is good on the ball, reads the game well and would slot in seamlessly to Marco Silva’s style of play. He appears to be ready for a big move to the Premier League and would be well-placed at a club of Everton’s stature.
Whether or not he would be able to replicate the performance levels reached by Zouma during his season at Goodison Park is uncertain. However, he would undoubtedly improve the options at the back for the Toffees should he snub interest from Liverpool and arrive on the Blue half of Merseyside.
