Everton linked with Bakayoko move, but would it be a risk?

Everton choosing to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea would represent an undoubted risk.

According to RMC Sport, the Toffees are eyeing up a move for the midfielder, as the end of the summer transfer window edges closer.

With Everton set to lose Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain, reinforcements in the middle of the park are required.

Bakayoko is an intriguing player to be linked with, however, considering how life for him in the Premier League has panned out.

The 24-year-old arrived at Chelsea from Monaco with a big reputation, having shone for the Ligue 1 side on their way to title glory in 2016/17.

A disastrous time of things at Stamford Bridge unfolded, however, and he was swiftly loaned out to AC Milan.

Bakayoko improved in Italy, but he has still looked off the pace for Chelsea during pre-season.

Age is still on the midfielder’s side, in fairness, and may be at a point where he is ready to tackle English football.

On the flip side, however, Everton would be risking bringing in a player who has not convinced at all in the Premier League to date.

They are linked with other midfield options, including Lyon’s Lucas Tousart and Nice’s Adrien Tameze – they would be better off switching their attention to one of those.
