Everton turned down an approach from Borussia Dortmund for Anthony Gordon this summer, according to Football Insider.
The young attacking midfielder has made waves for David Unsworth’s Under-23s side this season, and many fans have been tipping the 18-year old to breakthrough into Marco Silva’s first-team squad this season.
According to Football Insider’s report, Dortmund have been impressed with Gordon’s progress on Merseyside and for England’s youth sides, and the Bundesliga side were keen on bringing him to Signal Iduna Park.

The Premier League has become a favourite place for German sides to sign young talent over the past few years, with Jadon Sancho and Ademola Lookman having moved to Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
Gordon made his debut for Everton against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League two seasons ago, and will be hoping to follow other talent academy products in Tom Davies and Beni Baningime in making his domestic senior debut soon.

In short, yes they were. Gordon is one of the brightest young players at USM Finch Farm currently, and after having lost so many starlets over the last few years, it would be nice to see one actually progress how fans and the club hope.
Everton are finally in a position where they have some degree of staying power, where players don’t need to be sold or let go, and assuming Gordon wants to stay and keep developing, hopefully he’ll get his chance to impress soon.
