Every single transfer window Everton are linked to hundreds of players, whether by means of heavy speculation from leading media organisations or from ‘in the know’ accounts on social media.
Quite how many of those players Everton actually came close to signing always remains unclear, although down the years that have been certain players where the club’s interest in them became very apparent.
Many of those players that were missed proved to be bullets dodged, while others will have left fans and especially those making judgement calls for the club to rue their decisions.
Thankfully under Farhad Moshiri Everton have more financial freedom and flexibility, but it wasn’t always the case, with so many players slipping through the net due to their price tag proving to be a little over Everton’s price range.
