Marco Silva has confirmed that Andre Gomes will miss Everton’s game against Sheffield United on Saturday.
The Portugal international missed last Sunday’s game against Bournemouth at Dean Court due to a rib injury, and the Blues boss has confirmed that the midfielder has not yet recovered fully.
JP Gbamin is also still unavailable, meaning that Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies are likely to be the two in contention to partner Fabian Delph in midfielder for the Toffees.

Speaking in his pre-Blades press conference, Silva confirmed that Gomes would be unavailable, although on his recovery Silva added that, “he [Gomes] is getting better every day”.
With confirmation of Gomes’ unavailability, several Everton fans took to Twitter to debate who should start in his stead, with the lack of comments about the midfielder’s injury being a loss that it appears as though many fans aren’t fazed.
Twitter: @UHTPodcast Yes. But it will be Schneiderlin Bc you clearly need two CDMs at home against a promoted side

I think Gomes is a loss, to be honest. The midfielder is one of the few creative outlets the club possess from deeper midfield, and comparing his influence on the game to that of Morgan Schneiderlin is like night and day.
Thankfully it is only a minor knock, and he’ll be back soon. Until then, hopefully whoever deputises for him can make a decent enough impact to make the difference up.
