Silva in firing line as Everton losing at half-time against Blades – Fan Reactions

Everton go into the half-time break 1-0 down to Sheffield United, courtesy of a Yerry Mina own goal.

The Colombian steered the ball past Jordan Pickford via his shoulder after Oliver Norwood’s corner couldn’t be avoided by the defender.

In a game where Everton have largely dominated, Norwood’s delivery was just Sheffield’s first corner of the day, whereas the Toffees hadn’t been able to do anything with seven corners of their own before the goal.

Having conceded from a set piece yet again, Everton have now fallen foul to a set piece goal on 20 occasions since Marco Silva was appointed manager. The Blues conceded 16 set piece goals last season, and have four to their name so far this campaign.

Prior to the game pressure had begun to mount on Silva, particularly from the Everton fan base, with a number of disappointing performances recently underscoring an otherwise solid start to the season.

Reacting on social media, several Everton fans vented their anger at Silva’s failings.

This has been tough to watch. Everton have dominated play, created chances, but they’ve done nothing with their opportunities.

We need to a turn around fast, because this result isn’t acceptable on any level.
