Everton 3-2 Brighton – Everton Player Ratings

Brighton took the lead on the 15 minute mark, after a very poor start from the Blues. Mr Silva does not have a solid plan on how to rescue a game, instead he seems to rely on individual quality in order to be able to pull us out of a hole. Of course there isn’t much blame that should fall on the manager for the goal, as it was a combination of mistakes by Andre Gomes and Jordan Pickford that led to Brighton taking the early lead.

We responded well in the following period of the game with a quick goal from Richarlison (which wasn’t Richarlison’s goal, but it was really) and then the rest of the first period fizzled out. There was a real lack of intensity for the most part which is a worrying, if expected, sign. We need consistency between our home and away performances and it just isn’t there.

A good spell midway through the second half led to an unlikely assist for Mason Holgate for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to put us ahead, but Mr Silva’s record of never winning from behind with the Blues carries on after a Brighton penalty and a late winner. I don’t really want to talk about it anymore.

Another disappointing result, whether you want to blame VAR or not. Here are the ratings, *sigh*.
