Everton’s goal-scoring problems date back to the summer of 2017, when star-studded striker Romelu Lukaku left the club to join Manchester United for a fee of £75million. Since then, the Toffees have failed to recruit an adequate replacement for the Belgium International.
The time of Steve Walsh as Everton’s director of football will be a time that Evertonians would rather choose to forget, and his failure to find a replacement for the Belgian ultimately undid his tenure on Merseyside.
However, this summer saw the second year of Marcel Brands’ tenure at Goodison Park, leaving fans more hopeful at the prospect of finally finding a striker who can fill the void up-front. Marcel didn’t disappoint and brought in one of Europe’s biggest prospects, Moise Kean, from Juventus for a fee of just £27.5million without a buy-back clause. That is an incredible piece of business for the club, one that has understandably been hailed as ‘miraculous’ by some giving the admiration for the young Italian across the continent.
Moise Kean boasts a very healthy CV for a 19-year-old, winning the domestic double in his first senior season as a player and scoring two goals in just three appearances for the senior Italy national side. It also goes without saying but his youth record showed early signs of prosperity, with Kean having also scored two goals in four matches for Juventus U19s.

Despite these attractive numbers that Moise developed at Juventus and at international level, he is currently spending more time on the bench than on the pitch at Goodison Park, with both Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and even the perpetual introduction of Theo Walcott being favoured over the youngster.
Many fans are beginning to grow concerned, with Kean having likely joined Everton due to the promise of more regular game-time, meaning some fans are worried that Kean could soon look toward the Everton exit.
Marco Silva has chosen to remain adamant in his team selections, handing Moise Kean just two starts in his nine Premier League appearances this season.

For such a large outlay of money this summer, it doesn’t make sense for such a burgeoning young talent to remain sidelined so often this season.
Kean won’t develop in short 10-15 minute cameos, and handing him a starting berth is likely the only way to break his goalless run.
The Italian is one of the more promising starlets in European football, and it is about time Silva gave him another opportunity to prove that.
