Everton have made contact with the representatives of Roma winger Cengiz Under, according to reports.
We covered earlier the story from yesterday that Roma had made 22-year old forward Under available for transfer this month, with the Serie A club needing to raise funds in order to spend.
Everton had previously shown an interest in the Turkey international, but Roma had rebuffed the Toffees’ advances, with Under considered to be a major part of the Giallorossi’s future.
Now however, having fallen down the pecking order under Paulo Fonseca, Roma are exploring options to shift the winger, with Everton, Tottenham and Bayern listed as potential destinations.

That is according to Il Mattino (via Sport Witness), however they don’t specifically mention that Everton are interested in signing Under, just that Roma director Gianluca Petrachi wants to move him along.
However, Dean Jones of Bleacher Report has now reported that Everton have indeed made contact, with the Blues keen to sound out Under’s availability.
While a centre-back and a central midfielder must take precedence this month, a new winger is also needed at Goodison Park, and Under could be the man that Carlo Ancelotti is eyeing.
Roma want €40million for Under, but they would be open to negotiations.

As mentioned in the story earlier today, Under isn’t a bad target to go for, so long as the club are able to prioritise this month.
Everton absolutely need to recruit in central defence and in central midfield, and they can’t let interest in any other players hamstrung their ability to do so.
€40million is a lot of money for Under, but Ancelotti has been promised funds to spend, and if both he and Marcel Brands think he is the right man then hopefully Everton can fend off interest from other parties to land their man.
