Carlo Ancelotti could look to reunite with Napoli winger Hirving Lozano in the summer, according to Corriere dello Sport, as translated by Sport Witness.
The Mexico international has struggled to settle at the San Paolo this season, having scored just twice and assisted just once in 16 Serie A appearances this season.
Having scored 21 times in 40 games for PSV Eindhoven last season, Lozano was a wanted man in the summer, and was eventually snapped up by an Ancelotti managed Napoli for €40million.
Now though, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that Ancelotti could look to sign the winger again in the summer, while Napoli are likely to cut their losses, with Lozano having played just 61 minutes of football since Ancelotti was sacked in December.
Ancelotti is said to still rate the Mexican wide man, despite his shortcomings this season, and with Marcel Brands confirming at the club’s AGM last month that a right-sided winger was needed, Lozano could be the ideal target.
Lozano is an obvious target for Everton, but one that could also make the most sense for the club to pursue, given the amount of history he has with Everton’s recruitment team.
Not only was Lozano signed by Ancelotti last season, but the Mexican was also scouted extensively and eventually signed by Brands during his time as PSV’s sporting director.
Furthermore, the winger is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, who is also the agent of Brands himself, with the Dutchman said to possess a strong working relationship with the Italian.
This could work in Everton’s favour, as it did with the club’s recruitment of Moise Kean last summer, meaning that a move for Lozano is logistically possible to pull off.
Despite having failed to light up the Serie A this season, Lozano has shown his quality on the world stage, impressing at the 2018 World Cup for Mexico. In total, Lozano scored 34 times in 60 league appearances for PSV, and given that both Ancelotti and Brands rate him, and given his previous goalscoring history, he could be just the man that Everton need on the right-side of their midfield.
Should Everton consider a big money move this summer, they should look no further than the former Pachuca forward.
