Everton goalkeeper Jonas Lossl has been touted with a January exit from Goodison Park, having fallen down the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
The former Mainz man joined from then-relegated Huddersfield on a free transfer for the 2019/20 season in order to meaningfully compete with Jordan Pickford for the no. 1 goalkeeping spot.
The Danish international joined the Toffees on a three-year deal but returned to his former side in the Terriers on a half-season loan deal last season in search of regular football, having failed to make an impression on Ancelotti’s plans.
Having failed to get a look-in last season, Ancelotti’s side opted to bring in fellow Scandinavian Robin Olsen on loan from AS Roma for the season in order to better-fulfil a more challenging backup ‘keeper role to Pickford.
Although there is no formal option to buy the Swedish shot-stopper, it has been noted in the Liverpool Echo that there is a suggestion the Blues would like to extend Olsen’s Merseyside stint to a permanent one.
That would be the killing blow for Lossl, who appears to be firmly entrenched as Everton’s third-choice peripheral option between the posts. He has yet to appear competitively for the Toffees.

Olsen’s gain may be Lossl’s loss at this stage, as the Dane looks unlikely to have a future as a Toffee. A move away may work out to be the best option for all parties.
