An opportunity for Harry Winks to move to Everton in a bid to revitalise his career should be taken with both hands, according to former England striker Darren Bent.
Speaking to Football Insider, the pundit made some bold claims regarding the future of the out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder, who has struggled for game-time under Jose Mourinho.
The claims come amid earlier reports that the Toffees are keeping tabs on the England international as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park.
In a three-month period from late September to just after Boxing Day, Winks featured for less than an hour in the Premier League, leading to concerns that he looks down and out at his boyhood club.
Bent professed that, whilst Winks is a player of high quality who has plenty to offer to the world of football, Spurs was no longer the best environment for him to thrive. He told Football Insider:
“At the end of the day, Mourinho has got several options in the middle of the park. I like Harry. I think technically he’s a very, very good player and he’s got a lot to offer.
“But at the same time, we know how Mourinho likes to play. If you look at his older teams, for instance, they’re all big powerful guys and this team is being built using the same kind of DNA.
“I expect him to move on, go somewhere and play some games, wherever that may be. I’ve heard he could join Everton, but I think it comes down to wherever he feels more comfortable.

Bent is more than justified in his claims. Everton could be an ideal destination as doubts have emerged over the futures of the likes of Tom Davies and the perpetually injured Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.
Ancelotti could do with an extra reinforcements just as he should be looking to part ways with non-essential midfielders – and Winks’ technical ability renders him a formidable option to consider.
