Everton have made enquiries as to the availability of 21-year-old Real Sociedad defender Modibo Sagnan.
The French-born centre-back, who has been called up to the Mali national team in the past, has emerged as a breakout star for the Basque side in La Liga.
He has appeared 10 times in the division following a loan spell lower down the Spanish football ladder, just under a third of which were as part of the starting XI.
Having started in four of his last eight games for Real Sociedad, he has caught the eye of Everton scouts, according to France Football [via Sport Witness].
Sagnan has ‘attracted the gaze’ of the Merseyside club, who have gone as far as ‘coming forward for information’ regarding the availability of the player for transfer. The 21-year-old has emerged as something of a breakout star at Sociedad, but it is unclear as to whether he would be allowed to move on in the current transfer window or in the summer.
The report added that the Toffees are ‘interested in the potential’ of the young centre-back, who is a product of RC Lens’ academy – the same club that produced Real Madrid’s World Cup-winning defender Raphael Varane.
Bought by Sociedad in 2019, Sagnan spent time on loan with CD Mirandes during the second half of last season.

Sagnan may need more time to develop and rack up senior minutes, but investing in youth is rarely a bad thing.
However, with Real Sociedad surely unwilling to part with an emerging star so readily and with Everton already boasting talented young defenders in Jarrad Branthwaite and Ben Godfrey, a move for Sagnan may be premature from the Toffees.
