Fans loved Duncan Ferguson’s reaction in Old Trafford draw

Many Everton fans loved the jubilant reaction from assistant manager Duncan Ferguson upon witnessing Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s dramatic last-minute equaliser deep into stoppage time against Manchested United on Saturday night.

Possessed by an indomitable enthusiasm, Ferguson sprinted down the touchline with an expression of unbridled joy before passionately embracing a more conservative and dour-looking Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian appeared to call for calm and was unamused by his assistant’s antics, but even he could not resist Ferguson’s hug in the end.

Ferguson can be considered something of a club legend at Goodison Park, with the Scottish centre-forward making 256 appearances for the Toffees since his switch from Rangers in the 1994/95 season. He enjoyed his appearances over two separate spells for the club, scoring 68 goals in that time.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ferguson’s moment of unmoderated energy was picked up by Everton’s official Twitter account, which then drew further attention to his instinctive glee.

These Everton fans took to Twitter to comment further on Ferguson’s enthusiasm, with one hailing him as a “true Blue for life” – and what they want to see from the team at large going forward…
