Many Everton fans may be feeling vindicated by the treatment of Morgan Schneiderlin at Nice after the Frenchman’s less-than-magnanimous exit from Goodison Park.
A report by Sport Witness details a perception that the experienced former Manchester United midfielder possessed a bad attitude and a gulf in quality compared to the demands of the Premier League.
An early summer move back to France with Ligue 1 side Nice represented a fresh chance for the 31-year-old midfielder to reinvigorate his career in his native country. However, the jury remains out on whether Schneiderlin is on course to do just that, as he has recently been consigned to the bench again and has gone on record bemoaning a lack of centrality to the team’s recent plans. He told L’Equipe [via Sport Witness]:
Of course, it (sitting on the bench) annoys me. Everyone can see that. But I’m happy to have that reaction. If it didn’t, I would be wondering and wondering if I am still a competitor. The coach makes choices; I have to accept them.
I think that my entries against Marseille and Metz showed that I am fighting and that I am still there. I want to get back to the eleven as soon as possible. You can ask my wife: I’m unpleasant at home because I don’t play. I’m a bit more unpleasant than usual. I hope that will change soon.
We had a conversation before the match in Paris. Now I do my job, and he makes his choices.

A sense of entitlement rings through Schneiderlin’s quotes, which may be music to the ears of Everton fans who had been critical of him. Indeed, the midfielder took aim at the Toffees fanbase in an explosive interview last year.
Such an unsporting attitude could be a hindrance to his professionalism, although there is perhaps something to be admired in the player’s hunger and desire to make an impact at Nice after his subdued stint at Everton.
