Jamie Carragher feels former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez would be the perfect Ancelotti replacement

Everton found themselves at the heart of the media storm yesterday with Carlo Ancelotti’s departure.

The Italian left the Toffees to rejoin Real Madrid, despite initially lauding it as ‘good publicity’.

This has now left the club with the agonising process of finding a new manager ahead of next season.

Plenty of names have already been mooted, including the possibility of ex-Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher thinks he knows the perfect man for the job.

According to the Bootle-born defender, former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is the perfect replacement…

Speaking on his column for The Telegraph, Carragher feels Benitez should be at the top of the Blues’ list.

However, this would definitely not be a welcome appointment from Everton fans.

If the club were to make a move for Benitez it would be a real slap n the face of the Evertonian faithful.

This hasn’t been the worst managerial suggestion over the last day, with another former Reds also mentioned.

Yesterday it was reported that the club even had Steven Gerrard on their list of possible replacements.

The club has been through a lot over the last 24 hours and these two suggestions really do rub salt in the wounds.

Everton as a club and as a fan base deserve a lot better than having their rivals poke fun at their situation.

As good as the pair may be as managers, they are unrealistic and disrespectful suggestions for Everton fans.
