Everton managerial target Lucien Favre has been courted by fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace with increasing intensity.
Sharing his article as he elaborated on Twitter, journalist Ed Aarons of the Guardian delivered a double-edged sword that crashed down on Everton.
The update concerns the Swiss former Borussia Dortmund manager who has held constructive talks with Crystal Palace.
However, Everton are mentioned as another side that are interested in his services and could yet swoop for the former Switzerland midfielder.
Aarons has claimed that sources close to Favre have indicated that the out-of-work tactician was left ‘impressed’ with Palace’s plans.
The Eagles are on the hunt for a manager to oversee a long-term restructuring programme at Selhurst Park, following confirmation that boyhood Palace fan Roy Hodgson would be leaving the club at the end of the last campaign.
An ambitious, Europe-chasing approach in philosophy – running from style of play to the integration of youth players – are expected to be key pillars of Palace’s desired trajectory.
Such factors are similar to Farhad Moshiri’s vision, with Everton having seen long spells of significant investment with a view to securing European football whilst developing the infrastructure of the club.

Favre has shown his ability to transform sides in the past.
He oversaw a steady ascendency in France when Favre managed OGC Nice.
In two seasons, the southern French side secured Champions League qualification, whilst Favre is credited with developing talents such as Jadon Sancho and Giovanni Reyna at Dortmund.
That could suit Everton’s ambitions down to ground, but officials will need to work hard if they are serious on pipping Palace in the race for Favre’s services.
