Virals: Richarlison responds with shock at Everton departure

Everton ace Richarlison has commented a one-emoji response to the news that Qatari club Al Rayyan have completed the signing of playmaker James Rodriguez.

The playmaker spent just 12 months at Goodison Park and did not feature in a single game in front of Everton fans, with the playmaker either being out with injury or featuring in games held behind closed doors.

He made 29 appearances in an Everton shirt, scoring six goals in that time and adding nine assists.

The club took to Instagram as one of many club social media platforms to confirm the deal with Al Rayyan, with Richarlison himself taking to the platform to respond to the sudden news.

As shared by The Toffee Blues (@TheToffeeBlues) on Twitter, the fan account shared a screenshot taken from Instagram of Richarlison’s comment on the Everton post.

The Brazilian forward dropped a shocked-face emoji indicative of his alarm and consternation over the departure of Rodriguez after his short-lived spell.

Rodriguez had yet to feature for the Toffees this season, with the experienced Colombian international finding himself out of favour with new manager Rafa Benitez.

Everton had previously tried to offload Rodriguez to former club FC Porto in a deal that would have seen fellow Colombian Luis Diaz heading the other way, but a deal broke down ahead of the transfer deadline.

For many reasons, the signing of Rodriguez simply hasn’t worked out for the club.

Clearly unfavoured by the new manager, with fans all-too familiar with their long-term feud, the club has cut their losses and moved on.

Fans will be hoping the club can thrive in his absence and the Blues will not lack for creative spark.
