Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes Everton can ‘definitely push’ for a European spot under Rafa Benitez.
The Toffees have made a strong start to life under the Spaniard and currently sit fifth in the Premier League ahead of the return to domestic action.
Benitez is likely to target further squad additions in January following the arrival of Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray in the summer.
Speaking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor suggested that the Blues could still make a play for European qualification this term.
They’ve got a decent side, a decent manager. They just need a bit more money to invest in a few areas and then they’ll be definitely pushing to get into Europe. The foundations are there for Everton. They’ve got some good players, some really good young players. They just need that little bit more investment. Benitez has probably got some bargains lined up over the next two and a half months, ahead of January. Everton have always needed that little bit more money to spend and then they would be pushing for Europe, definitely.
Despite injuries to key forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in recent weeks, Benitez’ side have continued to impress.

Pushing for Europe simply has to be on the agenda at Goodison Park this term.
Having flattered to deceives last season before drifting into obscurity during the run-in, consistent performances throughout the campaign should see the Toffees in the shake-up come May.
More smart signings in January would certainly be welcomed, especially as the FA Cup campaign gets underway in the same month.
