Last summer gave David Moyes his first opportunity to build an Everton side with his own vision and input on transfers.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Thierno Barry, and Tyler Dibling were all brought in on a permanent basis, and it was refreshing to see the Toffees spend relatively freely in the transfer market.
Loans were also used, and Jack Grealish grabbed the headlines after joining the club in August.
The England international was forced out with an injury for the rest of the season, but his Everton journey looks set to continue.
David Moyes spotted at the Etihad Stadium
Moyes has successfully guided Everton into a competitive position this season, and while European qualification is not guaranteed, the club are in a much healthier position compared to a year ago.
His focus on a resolute defence has allowed the Blues to climb the table, but his recruitment has also been impressive.
The addition of Grealish heightened Everton’s attack and created a threat on both wings, along with the tricks and skills of Iliman Ndiaye.
Moyes’ presence at the Etihad Stadium could suggest that talks continue over Grealish, who remains at the Toffees while he recovers from his foot injury.
On top of keeping the 30-year-old on Merseyside, Everton have also been linked with Rico Lewis, after the defender has failed to clock up consistent minutes at City this season.
Keeping Jack Grealish must be a necessity for Everton
The impact Grealish has had on Everton this season has been immense.
He hit the ground running with two assists in his first game for the Blues and elevated their attack to another level.
| Everton Premier League Goals | 37 |
| Jack Grealish Premier League Goal Involvements | 8 |
In 17 league appearances, Grealish racked up two goals and six assists for the Toffees, and he has not played for them since January.
Despite missing a chunk of games for Everton, he has still contributed to 22% of all Premier League goals Moyes’ men have scored this season.
Grealish has left a hole in the Everton side since his injury, and he must remain with the club so this void can be filled easily for 2026-27.
