- The 1878s are a leading Everton fan group who have orchestrated some iconic displays.
- At the Hill Dickinson, they have organised displays to help drum up the atmosphere.
- Ahead of Merseyside Derby, they announce plans to create a memorable day for all.
The 1878s are a large factor as to why Everton are still a Premier League team.
In the stresses of recent relegation battles, they have created displays of banners, cards, and coach welcomes to give our team the additional boost it needed.
Their most recent work during Everton’s victory against Chelsea was a marvellous sight and only added to the joy of a memorable day at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
With the first Merseyside Derby at the Toffees’ new home on the horizon, the 1878s have announced their plans to drive the Blues to the much-desired three points.
Tifo display announced for Merseyside Derby
The 1878s posted an update on their X account, announcing what they will be doing for Liverpool’s first visit to the Hill Dickinson.
A tifo display will be used on the club’s South Stand, and there will be a combination of cards, flags, and banners being held up alongside it.
More details about the display will be released next week.
The group conducted their first display in Everton’s home defeat against Arsenal in December 2025 – a tifo was also used on this occasion.
In October 2025, they launched a fundraiser to help with the purchase of larger flags for the Blues’ new home.
The 1878s have helped to make Hill Dickinson Stadium home
Everton’s move from Goodison Park to Hill Dickinson Stadium was tough for a lot of Blues.
While it’s an accepted fact that to thrive in modern football, a modern stadium is required, there was a worry that the new ground would not have the same edge as the grand old lady.
But the work of the 1878s has injected life into the Hill Dickinson, and they have helped us supporters to claim the stadium as our new home.
The 1878s are exactly what a supporters group should be, built by fans and for the fans.
David Moyes has praised their work, and receiving credit from such a respected person spotlights how appreciated their displays are for the players and coaching staff.
Numerous elements still need addressing at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but something that has improved is the atmosphere.
Following the perfect day that was the 3-0 win against Chelsea, the work of the 1878s helped to create a memorable atmosphere and highlight that we can make our new ground a fortress.
Now that Derby Day has been confirmed as another fixture for them to work their magic, I am on the edge of my seat to see what wonders they come up with next.
