Former Everton striker raves about star but states there’s room to improve

  • Adrian Heath was an Everton icon in the 1980s and part of the 1984-85 side.
  • After leaving in the 1989, he played and coached at home and abroad.
  • He’s enjoyed watching the current Everton side, particularly Iliman Ndiaye.

Since the 1980s, Everton have not been able to replicate the immense heights they experienced during that era.

Guided by Howard Kendall, they won an FA Cup, two league titles, the European Cup Winners’ Cup, and four Community Shields.

Adrian Heath was one of the stars in this side and was the club’s top scorer in the season they claimed the FA Cup.

The former Everton forward has attended a few games at Hill Dickinson Stadium and is impressed by the Blues’ star winger, Iliman Ndiaye, but he still feels there’s space for him to grow.

Adrian Heath wants Iliman Ndiaye to improve his end product

In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, Heath praised the Senegalese and claimed Ndiaye could ‘play for any side in Europe’, but he felt the winger could develop his end product in front of goal.

He said: “I think Iliman Ndiaye could play for any team in Europe, I really do.

If Iliman could put more of an end product to a lot of the work he does, I feel like he could be world-class.”

Heath added that he was at Hill Dickinson Stadium for Everton’s victory against Chelsea and saw it as a landmark moment for the Toffees’ new waterfront home.

“The last match against Chelsea was the first time that I went: ‘I feel like we’re at home again,” said Heath.

“I got quite emotional when Iliman Ndiaye bent the third goal in.

“I looked around, and it’s not Goodison, but it’s the first time it felt anything like it.”

Keeping Iliman Ndiaye will be a top priority for David Moyes

David Moyes will be entering the summer transfer window with plans to spend big and boost the quality in his squad.

But on the flipside, he will be ensuring his star players do not leave the club, and leave him with an unwanted gap to fill.

Ndiaye is Everton’s most valuable player from a financial point of view, and the club could ask for a figure north of £100 million.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Senegal are due to play France and Norway in their group. This allows the Toffees’ prized winger to showcase his talents to the world against some of the best national sides.

An Everton team without Ndiaye is a scary prospect, and while selling him would bring a healthy injection of cash to the club, the winger’s abilities will be difficult to replace.
