- Everton are set for another huge transfer window this summer.
- After starting their rebuild, Moyes will look to improve the quality and depth.
- One name that’s been linked is Middlesbrough midfielder, Hayden Hackney.
David Moyes is set to bolster the Everton team in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Toffees added key men such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish – who has been rumoured with a return to the club – and will look to strengthen ahead of next season.
They have been linked with names across Europe, but Moyes is open to finding talent in the Championship.
Having already been linked with one of Middlesbrough’s key men from this year, the Blues are reportedly leading the way for one of their star players.
Everton are big fans of Hackney
Everton have indicated that they are fans of central midfielder Hayden Hackney, and are in pole position to recruit him, according to TEAMtalk.
Hackney has played for Boro from academy to senior level, and at 23 has crafted himself an authoritative position on Teeside.
| League Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 38 | 5 | 8 |
The midfielder is Middlesbrough’s chief creator on the pitch, but has showcased his talents at both ends of the field.
Hackney was also part of Lee Carsley’s England U21 team that retained their European title last summer in Slovakia, and provided an assist for their winning goal against the Netherlands in the semi final.
Everton will not be the only top-tier side in for Hackney
Moyes has a history of plucking talent from the Championship and allowing them to flourish in the Premier League.
With Jarrod Bowen being his most recent example, Hackney could be next.
The 23-year-old has been a starting player for Boro in the last four seasons and has shown that he is ready to step up to the Premier League.
With Hackney starting to mature in his game, he will want to apply his talents on the big stage.
However, Middlesbrough’s current Championship campaign could scupper an Everton move for the midfielder, as they are firmly in the play-off picture.
Should they gain promotion through the play-offs, Hackney would likely stay on Teeside and lead his team in England’s premier division.
Everton will be fully focused on securing European football for next season, but they will keep one eye on Middlesbrough’s end to the season, and what this could mean for the future of Hackney.
