- Everton are eyeing Jonathan David and Edon Zhegrova
- Juventus is tempted to sell because of their financial conditions
- Everton were linked with both players previously as well
Everton are expected to spend big this summer as David Moyes looks to build a squad capable of competing in Europe. According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are willing to sell centre‑forward Jonathan David and winger Edon Zhegrova for around £11 million each. The Italian club is facing financial woes and will be forced to offload players, presenting an opportunity for the Toffees.
Both players have struggled for consistent game time in Turin, but each brings different qualities and risks to the table.
Jonathan David: Experienced international with a proven record
Jonathan David, 26, has made 33 appearances for Juventus this season with 20 starts, playing 1,754 minutes and scoring six goals with four assists. The Canadian international has 75 caps for his country already and brings significant experience. While his goal return this term is modest, he has a track record of scoring regularly in Ligue 1 for Lille. At 26, he is entering his prime and would provide competition to the Everton forwards.
A fee of around £11m for a player with David’s qualities represents a bargain in today’s market. His work rate and ability to link play would suit Moyes’ system. He is not an out‑and‑out poacher but a forward who can drop deep, hold up the ball and bring others into play.
Edon Zhegrova: High risk, high reward
Edon Zhegrova joined Juventus from Lille in September 2025 for a fee of £12.4m, signing a contract until June 2030. The Kosovo international, capped 45 times for his country, arrived with a strong reputation after scoring 26 goals and providing 18 assists in 107 appearances for the French side.
However, his time in Turin has been devastated by injury. A serious knee injury wiped out the opening months of his spell, and he has made just 16 appearances this season, none of them starts, totalling just 341 minutes. He has zero goals and zero assists. His game time has been extremely limited, and he has not fared well in terms of performance.
Everton have tried to sign Zhegrova before. The club made attempts last summer, before he joined Juventus, and again in the January transfer window. If they can manage his fitness carefully, he could be a very decent option. At his best, he is a direct, dribbling winger with creativity and goal threat. But the injury risk is significant.
Two potential bargains for Everton
Juventus are willing to sell both players for around £11m each, a combined sum of £22m that would represent excellent value if both can rediscover their form. David is the safer bet being experienced and proven. Zhegrova is a gamble, but one that could pay off handsomely if he stays fit.
Everton’s recruitment team will have to weigh the risks. With European football potentially on the horizon, adding depth and quality on a budget is essential. Jonathan David offers reliability while Zhegrova offers flair. The Toffees have been here before. They know the player’s quality. Now it is a question of whether they are willing to roll the dice again.
